This is the place for BBQ.... Great selections.... Smells heavenly... My go to is the rib tips and the brisket...

Checked on line and found Elgin BBQ Pit with high ratings. It may be a great place after they start cooking fresh food, but ordered a full rib and rib tip dinners at 11:15 a.m.. The ribs served were dry and the texture was tough and not edible. I betting the ribs were yesterday's food and reheated. I will not order food from the Elgin BBQ Pit again and plan to spread the word.

We came with over an hour before closing time and they are already locked and cleaning; why? Because they ran out of food!! I'm 7 months pregnant and all I wanted was a pulled pork sandwich! Maybe state in your website it's first come first serve basis; once "a certain type of meat" runs out y'all close down. Make that known to your customers!! I'd rather drive the extra 30 min to the Texan than ever come back here! And the little girl inside cleaning was less than apologetic. Manners; who needs them right?

Pretty cool local bbq joint here in Elgin. You would never know it was here unless someone told you. The strip mall is run down and not in the best area, but once you discover it, you'll come back. The brisket tacos are my favorite. My husband likes the rib tips. The jalapeño hush puppies are a must and so are both slaws. Really, you can't go wrong with the sides. My only complaint is that everything is smoked. I wish there was some variety. Rotisserie chicken would be a great addition to the menu and maybe attract some additional female customers. The could to the brisket tacos with chicken too. Needless to say, the owner is kind and a wonderful local business man. I'm happy I've got them on my radar now. Also, download the five stars app, you'll get some great promos.

Definitely stop here for BBQ cravings, they have really yummy food!!! ALL the MEAT is phenomenal, brisket, ribs, chicken, etc. My fave is the ribs and the husband likes the brisket. Also, it's not a long wait at all - you'll mostly want to get it to go because there's not much seating, but it's a really nice vibe inside! Friendly workers, too, and moderately priced. All of the sauces we tried were great - the best being Mild Sauce. The Alabama White sauce tastes very similar to Parmesan Garlic sauce, which is a nice change of pace.
The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is the sides - they are good (but not great)...especially the Mac and Cheese, which is kind of bland and not cheese tasting enough, which is odd because everything else on the menu is SO flavorful. If you go here, instead of mac and cheese, get the baked beans, which are very good!
